Dr. Barzilay is a graduate of the faculty of medicine at the Technion, the Israeli institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel. He did his pediatric residency at Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, Israel and his Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship at the University of Toronto Canada.

He is the director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh Campus)
